Description of content: The standard regulates on Heavy duty gear oils for automobile (GL-5) which is blend of base stock made by refined mineral oil, synthetic base stock or their mixture and various additives. The standard specifies related test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage requirements. The standard is mainly applicable to automotive axles, particularly the hypoid gears operated under the condition of high-speed/shock-load, high-speed/ low-torque and low?speed/high-torque.
